Mahan Kali temple
About Mahan Kali temple
Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Devasthanam is a historic Shakti temple located in Secunderabad's General Bazar area, established in 1815 by Suriti Appaiah and associates who vowed to install the goddess's idol if the city was spared from a devastating cholera outbreak. The temple houses two primary deities in its sanctum: Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Matha and Sri Manikyalamma Matha, along with secondary shrines dedicated to Chandi Devi, Bala Devi, and Shiva Lingam. A stone idol of Goddess Mahakali was installed in 1964, replacing the original wooden installation. The temple is managed by the Endowments Department and serves as a significant spiritual center for devotees seeking blessings, protection, and relief from worldly concerns through traditional worship practices and rituals.
