About Maa Tara Chandi Temple

Situated on the Delhi-Kolkata Highway in Rohtas district, this ancient shrine is dedicated to Maa Tara, a manifestation of Shakti and Parvati. The temple's presiding deity is depicted with four arms: the right hands hold a knife and scissors while the left hands hold a serpent hood and lotus. According to Hindu mythology, this sacred site marks where Sati's right eye descended during Shiva's Tandava dance following her self-immolation at Daksha's sacrifice. The temple serves as a major center of Tantric worship and holds particular significance as the Kuldevi of the Surwar Rajputs. Devotees believe that sincere worship here bestows protection, health, prosperity, and spiritual salvation, with Goddess Lakshmi's blessings flowing to the faithful.
