About Kukutesvara Siva Temple
This small but historically significant temple stands in the Tinimundia chowk area of old Bhubaneswar, known as the Temple City of India. Built in the Kalinga architectural style, the shrine features a square sanctum measuring 2.1 metres per side and standing 3.8 metres high, with an east-facing entrance. The principal deity is a Shivalingam resting on a circular yonipitha. The temple's vimana includes carved niches housing subsidiary deities: a four-armed Ganesha to the south, Kartikeya to the west, and Parvati to the north. The entrance door lintel displays intricate carvings of the navagrahas seated on lotus flowers. The temple remains actively used and is managed by two priests who conduct regular rituals including Sankranti celebrations and abhisheka ceremonies.
