About the temple

Kothandaramaswamy Temple at Dhanushkodi, Rameswaram, is a 500-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Rama, uniquely housing idols of Rama, Lakshman, Sita, Hanuman, and Vibhishana. The temple is the sole historical structure to survive the devastating 1964 cyclone. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
