The Kodungoor Devi Temple stands as one of Kerala's revered Devi temples, with its primary deity being Kodungooramma (Goddess Bhagavathi). Estimated to be over 200 years old, the temple was originally maintained by the Madathil family before coming under the administration of the Travancore Devaswom Board. Located in Vazhoor, Kottayam district, the temple holds deep religious and cultural significance for the region's devotees. The temple is particularly renowned for its Kodungoor Pooram festival, which features the spectacular Gajamela—an elephant pageant with adorned elephants, traditional music, and colorful processions that draw large crowds of pilgrims and visitors. The temple also celebrates the Kalamezhuthu Pattu Ulsavam, where artists create intricate traditional kolams with colored powders and rice paste, accompanied by devotional chants and music.
