About Kilimarathukavu Temple

Located in Kadakkal within Kollam district, Kerala, Kilimarathukavu Shiva Parvathy Temple serves as a significant Hindu place of worship. The main sanctum enshrines Shiva and Parvathi as primary deities, with additional cult images of Dharma Shastha and an epithet of Ayyappan present within the temple complex. The temple is known for its unique architectural design based on Shadadharam idol principles, which is considered rare in Vastu Shastra. The temple complex includes several subsidiary shrines: a Hanuman temple uniquely positioned in the middle of the temple pond, a Navagraha temple with distinctive construction reflecting planetary principles, and a Murugan temple. The temple also features shrines dedicated to Devi Mahanadan, Ganapati, Hanuman, and Nagas. The temple came under the administration of the Travancore Devaswom Board under the Government of Kerala in 2011. Regular activities include Veda classes held every Sunday morning and special observances such as Shivarathri and Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations.
