About Kalika Mata Temple, New Dhrewad
Built during the Maitraka Dynasty in the seventh century CE, Kalika Mata Temple stands as a significant example of Vimanakara architecture with neo-Dravidic characteristics. The east-facing temple comprises a sanctum, antrala, maha mandapa, and mukha mandapa, with the latter appearing to be a later architectural addition. The structure features four bhadraka-type pillars in the central maha mandapa and is crowned by a five-tiered shikhara topped with an amalaka and kalasha. As a sandhara temple, it includes a common ambulatory passage around the sanctum. The temple is recognized as a monument of national importance and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India's Vadodara Circle.
