About the temple

The Jagannath Temple in Puri is one of Hinduism's most sacred sites, dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu. The present complex was rebuilt from the eleventh century onwards by the Eastern Ganga dynasty rulers. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
