Gosagaresvar Siva Temple

The temple exemplifies Kalinga architectural traditions, constructed primarily of sandstone using dry masonry techniques. The structure follows the precinct type layout with Pidha deul typology. The main shrine features a low platform (pista) measuring 2.70 metres in length and 2.30 metres in width, with a front porch of 2.35 by 2.15 metres. The vimana, or tower, rises 3.36 metres from base to apex and follows the pancharatha pattern, with a central raha flanked by anuratha and kanika pagas on either side.

The temple's vertical elements follow regional conventions: the bada (base) stands 1.36 metres with its characteristic triangular profile, the gandi (shaft) rises 1.10 metres above it, and the mastaka (crown) reaches 0.90 metres, incorporating the traditional beki, ghanta, amalaka and kalasa components. Decorative doorjambs enhance the entrance, though some carved elements remain vacant due to ongoing restoration work. The temple remains in active use and is maintained in good condition by the Odisha government.
