About Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple

Situated at Fudam village approximately 3 kilometers from Diu in the union territory of Daman and Diu, Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple stands as a remarkable cave sanctuary carved amidst rocky outcrops on the seashore. The temple's most distinctive feature comprises five Shivalingas of different sizes positioned in the sea itself, believed to have been installed by the Pandava brothers during their exile period. These sacred lingas remain submerged beneath the Arabian Sea during high tides and become visible only at low tide, creating a mystical spiritual experience as ocean waves lap against the deity. The cave temple entrance houses idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi. The presiding deity, Gangeshwar, represents the Lord of River Ganga, commemorating the sacred river's descent from Lord Shiva's locks. The temple operates without a resident priest, and offerings are naturally washed away by the sea within moments, symbolizing the transient nature of material devotion.
