About Dishisvara Siva Temple

Located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Dishisvara Siva Temple is a historically significant Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, dating back to the 15th century. The temple's sanctum houses a Shiva-lingam installed within a circular yoni pitha, the primary object of worship. Constructed using laterite stone with dry masonry techniques characteristic of Kalingan architecture, the temple reflects the skilled craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Though privately owned and situated within a residential compound surrounded by modern buildings, the temple remains an active place of worship. The structure has experienced deterioration over centuries, with vegetation growth and roof cracks noted, though restoration efforts by the State Archaeology Department have been undertaken during recent finance commission awards.
