Located approximately 7 kilometers southwest of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Chintaman Ganesh Temple stands as a significant spiritual destination housing three sacred idols of Lord Ganesha in its sanctum sanctorum: Chintaman, Ichchaman, and Siddhivinayak. The temple's name derives from 'Chintaman,' meaning 'the remover of worries,' reflecting its primary spiritual purpose. According to mythological tradition, Chintaman Ganesh was established by Mata Sita during her exile with Lord Ram, making it one of six Vinayakas she created. The temple's origins trace to the Parmar period, spanning the 9th to 13th centuries, with historical records suggesting construction during Maharaja Vikramaditya's reign. The structure features ancient carved stone pillars and traditional architecture, including domes with a lion sculpture atop. The main idol remains partially buried underground, visible only from the waist up. The temple complex includes a sacred well known as Lakshman Stepwell, believed to have been created by Lakshman with his arrow. Devotees visit seeking blessings for peace of mind, academic success, business growth, marriage, and removal of obstacles.
