About BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir London

The mandir opens to visitors and worshippers each morning from 09:00 to 12:15 and again in the evening from 16:00 to 18:00. The evening arti—a ritual of worship involving the offering of light to the deity—takes place from 18:35 to 19:20. This ceremony represents a central act of Hindu devotion, and the mandir offers a live webcast of the evening arti each day, extending access to those unable to visit in person.

Daily murti darshan, the viewing of sacred images, is available during opening hours. Visitors may also witness abhishek, the ritual bathing and anointing of the deity, which is part of traditional temple worship. These practices allow both regular devotees and curious visitors to experience Hindu religious observance in an authentic setting.

Visitor Information and Etiquette

Entry to the mandir is free. Visitors should be aware that a strict dress code is enforced throughout the complex. All clothing must cover shoulders and knees; tops must cover the shoulders, chest, navel, and upper arms, with leg-wear extending at least below knee-length. Wraps are provided for those whose clothing does not meet these requirements. Shoes must be removed before entering the mandir itself, a practice common in Hindu temples that reflects the sanctity of the worship space.

Personal belongings and backpacks should be left in vehicles rather than brought into the complex. Photography and videography policies, mobile phone use, and conduct guidelines are in place; visitors should consult the temple's website or contact staff for specific details. The temple welcomes assistance dogs and provides wheelchair access. Women and men sit separately during the arti ceremony, following traditional practice in many Hindu temples.

Facilities and Services

The complex offers guided tours for individual visitors and organised groups, as well as dedicated school visit programmes with educational materials. A restaurant and shop are available on site, and visitors may sponsor a prasad thali (blessed food offering) as part of their visit. The mandir has received recognition including a 2024 Tripadvisor Award, reflecting its standing as a visitor destination.
