About the temple

Akkanna Madanna Caves are rock-cut Hindu cave temples in Vijayawada dating to the mid-7th century, excavated by the Eastern Chalukya dynasty and dedicated to Shiva. The upper cave is notably well-preserved and contains an important 7th-century inscription. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
