About Adikesava Perumal Temple

Located in Thiruvattar, Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, this historic Vaishnavite shrine stands as one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in South India. The temple's distinctive setting, with the deity in a reclining posture surrounded by rivers on three sides, creates a serene spiritual atmosphere that has drawn devotees for centuries. Originally serving as the Rajya Temple and Bharadevatha shrine of the erstwhile Travancore kingdom, the temple was transferred to Tamil Nadu's Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department following state reorganisation. The temple complex showcases traditional Dravidian architecture and continues to be a major center of Vaishnavite worship, with daily rituals and special pujas performed during festival seasons.
