Located in Kudavasal Taluk of Thiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, Veezhinathar Temple stands as a significant Chola-era shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva in his Mappillaiswami (bridegroom) form. The temple's name derives from the abundance of Veezhi (jackfruit) trees and a devoted hunter named Mizhalai who worshipped Shiva in this forest. The sanctum displays Shiva as an east-facing lingam with a backdrop depicting Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi in their wedding form (Kalyana Kolam). The temple features a 100-pillared mandapam, a five-tiered rajagopuram, sacred tank, and numerous subsidiary shrines including representations of Navagraha deities. Devotees visit seeking blessings for matrimonial harmony and childlessness, while the temple preserves historical significance through the Padikasu peetam where saints Gnaanasambandar and Tirunavukkarasar received divine sustenance during famine.
