Located in Thrikodithanam village on the outskirts of Changanassery in Kottayam District, Kerala, this ancient temple is constructed in traditional Kerala architectural style and holds significant religious importance as one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu. The temple is also counted among the five sacred Pancha-Pandava temples in Kerala and is associated with Sahadeva, the youngest of the five Pandavas. The shrine has been glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon composed by the Alvar saints between the 6th and 9th centuries CE. Situated approximately 2.5 kilometers from Changanassery town on the Changanassery-Kaviyur Road, the temple remains accessible by rail via Changanassery Railway Station, which lies 2 kilometers away, and by air through Cochin International Airport, approximately 100 kilometers distant.
