Located in Ponnani, Malapuram District, Kerala, Thrikkavu Sri Durga Bhagavathy Temple stands as a centuries-old sanctuary dedicated to Goddess Durga. Though precise historical documentation remains elusive, the temple is traditionally counted among the 108 sacred Durga shrines established by the legendary sage Parasurama in Kerala. The name Thrikkavu is believed to derive from 'Thrikkani Kaadu.' The temple endured significant destruction during Tipu Sultan's military campaigns in the late 18th century, when it was converted into an ammunition depot. The Zamorin of Calicut subsequently undertook restoration efforts, reviving the temple's religious functions and allowing worship to resume.
