About Thottipal Bhagavati Temple

This ancient Bhagavati temple, situated in Thottippal village within the Parappukkara Grama Panchayat of Thrissur District, holds significant spiritual importance in Kerala's Shakti worship tradition. The presiding deity is Goddess Bhagavathi, revered as a manifestation of Durga in her Kumari (virgin) form, symbolizing protective power and purity. The temple features traditional Keralite architecture with intricate carvings and is located near the Kurumali River in a scenic rural landscape. As one of the 108 sacred temples attributed to Sage Parasurama, it participates in major regional festivals including Arattupuzha Pooram and Peruvanam Pooram, where the goddess is carried in grand processions with caparisoned elephants and traditional percussion ensembles. The temple underwent significant restoration following its destruction during Tipu Sultan's campaigns, with major renovations completed in the late 19th century.
