About the temple

Somnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva as the first of twelve Jyotirlingas, stands at the Arabian Sea's edge in Gujarat. According to legend, the Moon God prayed here to remove his curse, giving the temple its name meaning 'Lord of the Moon.' The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
