About Sri Adhikesava Perumal temple
Located in the village of Manapakkam near Chengelpet on the eastern bank of the River Palar, this ancient temple has been a center of Vaishnava devotion for more than four centuries. The presiding deity is Lord Aadhikesava Perumal, worshipped in his eight-armed form (Ashta Bhuja Perumal) holding emblems of divine protection including a sword, shield, mace, bow, arrow, lotus, conch, and discus. The temple holds significance as the avatara sthalam of the revered saint Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan, also known as Kozhiyalam Swamy. A major restoration, the Maha Samprokshanam, was performed in 2007. The temple premises include shrines to Goddess Alamelumangai, whom devotees traditionally honor before seeking Lord Perumal's blessings. The temple community has undertaken renovation efforts, including reconstruction of the Madappali (kitchen) damaged during a cyclone.
