Perched atop a forested hill approximately 25 kilometers from Madurai, Pazhamudhir Solai Temple stands as one of the Arupadaiveedu—the six principal shrines of Lord Murugan. The temple features Lord Murugan enshrined with his two divine consorts, Goddesses Valli and Deivayanai. According to legend, the great Tamil poet Avvaiyar was tested by Lord Murugan here under a tree near the temple, where the deity appeared as a young boy and engaged her in an intelligent play of words before revealing his true identity and blessing her. The sacred tree remains worshipped by devotees. The temple draws visitors year-round for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere intensifying during evening rituals and major festivals.
