About Namakkal Anjaneyar Temple

Located in Namakkal town, this Tamil-style temple is dedicated to Hanuman (Anjaneyar) and follows the Vaikhanasa tradition. The temple's primary attraction is its unique 18-foot standing rock-cut Hanuman statue positioned as if eternally guarding the reclining form of Lord Vishnu (Ranganatha) within the inner sanctum. The temple's mythology connects to Narasimha, an avatar of Vishnu, appearing to both Hanuman and Lakshmi. The temple is managed by HR&CE and is particularly renowned for its Anjaneyar Jayanthi festival, during which devotees offer the iconic vadamaalai—a garland made of 1,00,008 vadai (savory donuts)—to the deity. The site combines spiritual significance with architectural interest, and nearby attractions include Namakkal Fort and the Vishnu temple.
