Gop Temple

The Gop Temple originally featured a square floor plan with a mandapa (pillared hall) and a covered circumambulation passage for devotees to walk around the sanctum. These elements have not survived to the present day. What remains is the tower structure, which rises to a height of 23 feet and is topped with a pyramidal masonry roof—now partially ruined but with substantial portions intact.

The tower's roof displays decorative arch-like gavaksha window shapes carved into the stone, arranged below an amalaka crown. The amalaka is a characteristic element of Hindu temple design, typically a ribbed, wheel-like stone that sits at the apex of the tower. These carved details reflect the sophisticated stone-working techniques available to builders in the 6th century and show how even functional architectural elements were treated as opportunities for ornamentation.
