Bhattarika Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site located on the banks of the Mahanadi River at Sasanga village in Baramba tehsil, Cuttack district, Odisha. The temple is dedicated to Maa Bhattarika, worshipped as an incarnation of Shakti, the divine feminine power. According to Puranic tradition, when Parashurama faced defeat at the hands of Saharsrajuna, he prayed to Durga, who appeared at this very location to bestow her divine power upon him. The temple houses eight small images of the Goddess Bhattarika in various mudras and poses. The site is situated atop a hill with scenic views of the river plains and the Ratnagiri Mountains. Major festivals celebrated here include Pana Sankranti in April, Akshaya Tritiya in May, Dussehra in October, and Durga Puja annually. The temple attracts devotees throughout the year and offers a spiritual sanctuary with rustic charm.
