About Ammachiveedu Muhurthi
Founded in the 15th century by the aristocratic Ammachi Veedu family, this ancient temple honors Adi Parashakti, believed to be the guru of Dharma Sastha from the nearby Shasthamkotta Temple. The temple's sanctum sanctorum is exceptionally modest, measuring 4 feet by 4 feet, and features a silver-clad peedam with two gold-covered shankhas. The deity is worshipped in the form of Moorthy Amma, denoting the absence of a physical idol—a rarest phenomenon in Kerala's temple tradition. Over time, additional deities including Ganapathi, Rektha Chamundi, and Yogeeshwarans were enshrined to serve the spiritual needs of the family. The temple welcomes devotees irrespective of caste and religion, creating an inclusive sacred space where worshippers seek blessings for marriage, health, and spiritual fulfillment. An adjacent Sarpakavu houses Parappooramma Bhagavathi and serpent deities, while a Sree Chakra is installed on the left side of the main deity.
