Tripura Sundari Temple
About Tripura Sundari Temple
The temple opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 8:00 PM. Darshan—the viewing of the deity—is available in two sessions: morning from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and evening from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The temple remains closed between these sessions for rituals and maintenance.
Several aartis (ritual worship with lamps) occur throughout the day. The Mangal Arati and Balya Bhog take place at 4:00 AM. The Praat Aarti follows at 6:30 AM, the Madhyanha Aarti at 12:30 PM, and the Sandhya Arati at 6:30 PM. Additional rituals include Mayer Snan (the ritual bathing of the goddess) at 8:00 AM and the commencement of Mayer Puja at 9:30 AM. In the evening, Sheetal Bhog is offered at 9:30 PM, followed by Mayer Nidra (the goddess's rest) at 10:00 PM.
General darshan is free for all visitors. Special pujas and sevas are available at varying costs—kumkumarchana (flower and vermillion offerings) ranges from ₹51 to ₹301, while abhishekam (ritual bathing of the deity) costs between ₹300 and ₹2,000. Prasadam (blessed food) is distributed, with kumkum (vermillion) offered freely to devotees.
Festivals and Celebrations
The temple observes several significant festivals throughout the year. Kali Puja, celebrated in October or November in the Bengali and Tripura tradition, draws very large crowds and extends the temple's usual darshan hours. Durga Puja, the grand Navratri festival, also occurs in September or October and attracts substantial numbers of visitors over approximately five days. Poila Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, is celebrated in April with moderate crowds. A Diwali Mela (festival fair) is organized annually. The temple also hosts Amabassa Special Puja and Navaratri Special Puja at dates that follow the Hindu lunar calendar and should be verified before planning a visit.
Visiting Information
Visitors should plan their visit according to the darshan timings, keeping in mind that morning sessions tend to be busier before mid-morning. General darshan is free and accessible to all. Modest dress is customary when visiting Hindu temples; visitors typically remove footwear before entering the sanctum. Photography policies should be confirmed with temple staff upon arrival.
The temple provides anna bhog (blessed food offering) manually distributed from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Online donations toward the temple's upkeep and preservation can be made through the official temple website. Accommodation options are available in the surrounding area, with lodging available starting from ₹950 per night.
Festival days may alter standard timings, so verification with temple authorities is advisable before travel, particularly if visiting during Kali Puja, Durga Puja, or Navratri. The temple is managed by the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Trust and can be contacted via email at templetrustmatatripurasundari@gmail.com for specific inquiries.
