Situated at Edakkad Ward in Poruvazhy village, Kunnathoor Taluk, Kollam district, this temple holds distinctive spiritual significance rooted in Mahabharata legends. According to local tradition, during the Pandavas' exile, Duryodhana traveled through the Malanad region searching for them. A local woman offered him toddy when he was tired and thirsty, an act of kindness that pleased him greatly. In gratitude, Duryodhana blessed the land and its people, establishing the spiritual foundation for this shrine. Unlike conventional temples with idol worship, Malanada emphasizes a mental process of devotion. The temple's governance reflects its inclusive nature, with administration involving representatives from seven local Karas and members from various communities. The temple remains open throughout the day and serves as a center for cultural gatherings, festivals, and traditional rituals that strengthen communal bonds.
