Nrusinghanath Temple

The temple was established in the early 15th century CE, when the King of Patna, Baijal Singh Dev, laid its foundation. This makes it a structure of considerable age, having endured over five centuries of history. The building itself is modest in scale, standing 45 feet in height and divided into two distinct sections. The inner sanctum serves as the seat of Lord Nrusingha, while the outer chamber, known as the Jagamohan or antechamber, provides a transitional space for worship. This antechamber is supported by 12 pillars arranged in groups of four at each of its three gates, reflecting the architectural conventions of medieval Odishan temple design.

Daily Worship and Darshan

The temple maintains regular hours for devotee visits: 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the morning, followed by a closure from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and evening darshan from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Nrusingha Janmotsav and Baisakh Mela extend celebrations in late April and early May with cultural festivities and spiritual ceremonies. The Ratha Yatra, celebrated on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya, involves a sacred chariot procession symbolizing the deity's divine journey. Nuakhai, observed on Bhadra Shukla Panchami, is a harvest festival particular to Western Odisha, during which the first grains of the season are offered to the deity in gratitude for abundance and prosperity.
