Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple
About Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple
Located in Doongh village on the Shahpur Kandi Dam road near Pathankot, this temple houses a marble Shiva lingam with copper yoni, surrounded by idols of Ganesha, Brahma, Vishnu, Hanuman, and Parvati. According to Hindu legend, the Pandavas sheltered in these caves during their year of exile (Agyatvas), and the caves themselves are believed to date to the Mahabharata period. Perched atop a hill overlooking the Ravi River, the temple is considered one of the most sacred places in the Pathankot region and is also known as Mini Haridwar due to ash immersion ceremonies performed in the river below.
