About Kunnuvarankottai Kasi Visalakshi-Viswanathar Temple
Located in the village of Kunnuvarankottai (also known as Kannapatti) near Batlagundu on the foothills of Kodaikanal in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, this ancient temple stands by the riverside at the confluence of the Vaigai, Maruda, and Manjalaru rivers, collectively known as the Triveni Sangam. The presiding deities are Goddess Visalakshi and Lord Viswanathar, with the shrine for the Goddess facing south. According to local temple legend, the idol of Visalakshi was brought to this location by a devotee from Kasi (Varanasi), establishing a spiritual connection between this site and the sacred city. The temple is built in Dravidian architectural style and stands at an elevation of 232.81 meters. Devotees believe that bathing in the confluence during auspicious days like Amavasya will help them realize the purpose of life.
