About the temple

Karat Temple is an ancient Shiva shrine in Kommayad, Wayanad, Kerala, established roughly a millennium ago. Destroyed by Tipu Sultan in the 18th century, it was rebuilt through community effort and remains a significant pilgrimage site. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
