About the temple

Jwala Devi Temple in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, is one of India's 51 Shakta Pithas, believed to mark where the tongue of Goddess Sati fell. The ancient shrine, originally constructed around 1000 years ago by Raja Udit Narayan Singh, has been rebuilt while preserving its sacred significance. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
