Jayanti Devi Temple
About Jayanti Devi Temple
Perched on a hillock in Jayanti Majri village in Old Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, Jayanti Devi Temple stands as a revered pilgrimage destination. The sanctuary honors Mata Jayanti Devi, recognized as one of the seven ancient goddesses of the Kangra Valley region. According to local tradition, the temple was originally established by the Pandavas and later renewed by the King of Hathnaur. Devotees undertake a challenging ascent to reach the temple, viewing the climb itself as both a physical and spiritual journey. An ancient well at the temple's base, known for its sweet water, has sustained pilgrims across generations. The temple gains particular prominence during the annual Panchbheesh Fair, a major spiritual gathering that draws crowds of devotees. The serene hilltop location offers tranquil surroundings, and visitors are encouraged to arrive early in the morning to experience the peaceful dawn atmosphere.
