Hanuman Temple, Connaught Place
About Hanuman Temple, Connaught Place
Pracheen Hanuman Mandir stands as a spiritual sanctuary within Delhi's bustling commercial heart, believed to have been established by the Pandava brothers following their victory in the Kurukshetra war. The temple houses a small Bal Hanuman idol said to have emerged naturally from stone, crowned by a distinctive shikhara bearing a rare crescent moon reportedly gifted by a Mughal emperor moved by Tulsidas's devotion. Since August 1, 1964, the temple has maintained an uninterrupted 24-hour chanting of "Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram," a feat formally documented in the Guinness Book of World Records. Tuesdays and Saturdays hold particular spiritual significance for devotees, with the temple remaining open continuously on these days, while other days observe a midday closure. The shrine attracts pilgrims seeking courage, strength, and solace, with early morning hours offering the most tranquil darshan experience.
