About the temple

Dhabaleswar Temple, situated on a riverine island in the Mahanadi River near Cuttack, is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva with stone carvings dating to the 10th-11th centuries. The temple's name derives from a legendary miracle in which Lord Shiva transformed a black calf into a white one, earning the epithet Dhabaleshwar (the White Lord). The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
