Danteshwari Temple
About Danteshwari Temple
This sacred shrine honors Goddess Danteshwari, the divine feminine principle worshipped within the Shakta tradition. Constructed during the 14th century, the temple holds significant historical importance as the family goddess (Kuldevi) of Bastar state, with the town of Dantewada itself named after this revered deity. Located 80 kilometers from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh and 350 kilometers from Raipur, the temple attracts thousands of devotees annually. The shrine is particularly vibrant during Sharad Navaratri and Chaitra Navaratri celebrations, as well as the Fagunmela festival in March-April. Well-connected by National Highway 30, the temple remains accessible year-round to pilgrims seeking blessings from the goddess.
