Chhinnamasta Temple, Rajrappa
About Chhinnamasta Temple, Rajrappa
The temple maintains two darshan sessions daily. Morning darshan runs from 4:30 to 12:00, followed by a closure from 12:00 to 15:30 for cleaning and preparation. Evening darshan resumes at 15:30 and continues until 21:00. Two principal aartis (ritual worship ceremonies) structure the day: the Mangala Aarti at 5:00 in the morning and the Sandhya Aarti at 18:30 in the evening. The evening aarti is performed beside the river, incorporating the sacred waters into the worship.
Tuesdays and Fridays are considered especially auspicious for darshan. Many devotees begin their visit with a ritual bath at the Bhairavi-Damodar sangam (river confluence) before entering the temple. The temple offers facilities for special pujas, which can be arranged at the temple counter and typically include worship of Chhinnamasta and, during the Navratri period, fire rituals (havans).
Festivals and Auspicious Times
Navratri, the nine-day festival honoring the goddess in her various forms, draws significant numbers of devotees to Rajrappa. Full moon and new moon nights also attract pilgrims, as lunar cycles hold particular importance in tantric practice. Winter months offer pleasant weather for travel and extended visits. During major festivals, special aartis are performed, and the temple's rhythms intensify accordingly.
