About the temple

Chamundeshwari Temple, perched atop Chamundi Hills about 13 km from Mysuru, is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the fierce form of Shakti who vanquished the demon Mahishasura. This ancient temple, built in the 12th century by the Hoysala Dynasty, remains the tutelary deity of Mysuru and a major pilgrimage site. The shrine draws devotees through the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere reaching its peak during the evening rituals and on festival days when special pujas are performed.
