About Avanur Sreekanteswaram Temple
Avanoor Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated in Avanur within Thrissur district of Kerala. According to tradition, the temple was installed by the legendary sage Parasurama and forms part of the revered collection of 108 Shiva temples across Kerala. The presiding deity, Sreekandeswara, is housed in the main sanctum facing westward. The temple structure stands at an elevation of approximately 32.59 meters. Historical accounts indicate the temple was in a deteriorated state as of 2008, though local communities have undertaken reconstruction efforts to restore the shrine.
