About Ashtamangalam Siva Temple
Located in Ashtamangalam, Thrissur district, this ancient Shiva temple features a distinctive round-shaped sanctum (Sreekovil) and is accompanied by the Vattakshikovil temple on the eastern side of the complex. The temple is set beside a large pond, with the deity and temple structure oriented toward the water. According to tradition, the temple was installed by the legendary sage Parasurama and holds significance as one of the 108 Shiva temples throughout Kerala. The primary festival celebration is Shivarathri, observed during the Malayalam month of Kumbha, typically falling in February-March.
