Located in Punnapra, Alappuzha district, Aravukadu Sreedevi Temple (also known as Sree Bhadrakali) is a historic shrine dedicated to the Goddess Devi in her powerful form following her victory over the demon Daruka. The temple's idol, crafted from Krishna Sila stone, embodies the divine feminine in multiple manifestations—Saraswathi, Parvathi, and Lakshmi—at different times. According to local tradition, the Devi washed her sword in the temple pond behind the sanctum. The temple has a layered history of custodianship, initially maintained by Brahmins before transitioning to local families during Tipu Sultan's invasion, and eventually coming under the management of S.N.D.P Union branches and the broader Hindu community of the surrounding region. The shrine draws devotees throughout the day for darshan and aarti, with the atmosphere intensifying during evening rituals and festival celebrations when special pujas are performed.
